The Walk: Five Essential Practices of the Christian Life” by Reverend Adam Hamilton.
Beginning April 18th, Reverends Surrett and Powell, will kick off a five-week sermon series focusing on “The Walk.” In his book, “The Walk,” Rev. Hamilton focuses on five essential spiritual practices rooted in Jesus’ walk with God and taught throughout the New Testament. Each spiritual practice (Worship/Prayer, Study, Service, Giving, and Sharing) is intended to be part of our daily walk with Christ and an essential part of growing together as the body of Christ as we seek to be more engaged, dedicated, and in love with Christ and one another.
The congregation is encouraged to purchase the book and read one chapter each week. Books are $12.50 and are available at the check-in table each Sunday morning (beginning March 28), at the main office during the week, OR from Amazon (Kindle and large print versions are available there). Participants can purchase the book from the church by check (write “book study” in the memo section), cash, or on the St. John’s app (please select “book study” from the drop-down menu).
In addition to the sermon each week, a “Chat Back” session will take place each Sunday in Huddleston Hall at 10:15 AM. This will be a time to gather and have a conversation with Reverends Surrett and Powell about each chapter of the book. This “Chat Back“ session will be a stepping stone back to our Sunday School routine as we determine interest in returning to Sunday school classes.
