Director of Youth Ministries
St. John’s United Methodist Church is seeking a Director of Youth Ministries to ensure our youth in sixth through twelfth grades know they are loved by God. The youth director will be a person of warmth and enthusiasm who will build relationships and coordinate various discipleship programs that engage youth and nurture a long-lasting spiritual foundation.
Our ideal candidate has significant youth ministry experience (professional or as a volunteer), embraces United Methodist core beliefs, and is passionate about helping youth grow in their faith. Must be a team player who relates well to people of different ages, backgrounds, and beliefs, understands the importance of intergenerational ministry, and is able to work closely with the church pastors and staff to facilitate the overall vision fulfillment of the church to support the St. John’s mission of Making Disciples for Christ.
Founded in 1853, St. John’s UMC remains a vibrant downtown church in the heart of Rock Hill, South Carolina, with an active, mission-minded congregation of over 1000 members, a long history of a strong Youth Ministry, and spacious facilities. We strive to be a place where church and community meet and where all people feel welcome. Please visit www.stjohnsrh.org to learn more.
Hours: Approximately 24 hours per week with the understanding that in some seasons of the church’s life there will be more and less hours in any given week, but not to exceed 48 hours per pay period. Flexible work schedule, with the exception of required Sunday hours, certain meetings, and occasional retreats, trips, and lock-ins. There is potential for this to become a full-time position.
Requirements: Must be at least 23 years old, pass a criminal background check and driving record check, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to drive a 14-passenger bus (or willing to learn).
