FAN (Faith, Activity, and Nutrition) is a new program of the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church in partnership with the Prevention Research Center at the University of South Carolina. FAN isn't just about exercising or losing weight. Instead, it's a way for churches to create a healthier environment by encouraging physical activity and healthier eating.
The St. John's FAN program is led by Lacy Ngo, MS, RD and a team of volunteers. Since the program's kickoff in June, you may have noticed small changes such as healthier snacks and refreshments at events. As we move into our fall program of activities, you'll see more opportunities to make healthier choices. These efforts are expressions of our respect for our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit through which we honor God. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
Want to get more involved with FAN? Sign up for the 8-week nutrition and fitness program starting August 27th. We will meet for a boot camp style fitness program, and we will spend some time learning nutrition tips from a dietitian. This program will be held every Sunday at 4:30.
