Jenifer Copeland Crawford
Director of Christian Education
Jenifer has been part of the St. John’s staff as Director of Christian Education since 2001. A native of Hartsville, SC, Jenifer graduated from Wofford College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government and from Duke University’s Divinity School with a Master’s in Church Ministries. Jenifer was Director of Church Ministries at Oxford University UMC in Oxford, MS prior to moving to Rock Hill. She and her husband, Matt, have two sons.
Director of Youth Ministry
Val joined St. John’s in January 2006 after moving to Rock Hill from Largo, Florida where he was a member of one of the largest United Methodist Churches in the Southeast Jurisdiction. After 25+ years of volunteer youth ministry Val has answered a call of God and entered into full time youth ministry. Val spent nearly 27 years in Corporate America in the copier industry before answering this call. He served four years in the United States Navy and has been blessed to have been able to visit Israel and the Holy Land along with 23 other countries.
Val has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 30+ years. They have two children, Jeremy (28) and Diana (25), who have blessed them with five wonderful grand children, three boys (Colten, Kaleb and Tristan) and two girls (Kaala and Allycia) ranging from fourteen years old to a one year old.
Director of Children's Ministries
Sarah Crockford has been on the staff at St. John’s since 2001. A native of Denver Colorado, Sarah also lived in Detroit and Columbia, SC before settling in Rock Hill. She holds a B.S. in Special Education from Winthrop University and has worked with children over the years from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds. Sarah is married to John and is mother to Katie and Evan. Her hobbies are chauffeuring her children to school, ballet, baseball, and church events and volunteering with their activities as she is able! Director of Music/Organist
Wes joined St. John's as Organist and Music Director in 1993 after serving in that same capacity at Ebenezer Presbyterian (ARP) in Rock Hill for nine years. Before that, he was the Organist for St. Luke UMC in Walhalla, SC; Young Memorial ARP in Anderson, SC; and University Lutheran Church in Clemson, SC.
Wes received his Bachelor's degree in Music from Southern Wesleyan University in 1974. He did graduate work at the University of Georgia where he served as accompanist for the Georgia Singers and was organist in area churches. He earned his Master's degree in Music from Winthrop University in 1984.
Wes was born in Anderson, South Carolina and attended D. W. Daniel High School in Clemson, SC. His wife of 21 years, Pamela Parker Revels, works for Comporium Communications in the Human Resources Department.
Mary Ann S. Helton
Director of Chancel Choir
Mary Ann received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Winthrop University and her Master's degree in Music Education from Florida State University with an emphasis on secondary choral music. Her first year of teaching was spent at Buford Elementary School in the Lancaster School District. After that year she moved to Rock Hill High School and has been there for 30 years as the choral director. During those years she has served at the state level of SCMEA (SC Music Educators' Association) as All-State Chairman and Choral Division President and Vice-President.
Contemporary Worship Coordinator
Stephanie Ansley has been on staff since 2013. Her hometown is Concord, North Carolina, and has previously resided in Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Georgia. She holds a B.A. degree in Sociology from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and graduate work in Applied Clinical Psychology. Stephanie’s degrees have allowed her to teach in schools, provide clinical support to families who are clients of the S.C. Department of Mental Health, and run a number of support groups (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Anger Management) to families in need. She states most of her efforts have been focused on the welfare, mental health, and now spiritual needs of children.
Stephanie moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina in 2008 and has been a St. John’s member since that time. She is married to Travis Ansley and has a daughter, Ava Claire (age 6) and son, Emerson (age 4). Soon after joining St. John’s, Stephanie became active in the Nursery and Vacation Bible School committees, later taking on the volunteer positions of Nursery Committee Chair and VBS Volunteer Coordinator. Beginning in October of 2013, Stephanie was asked to join the staff as a part-time Nursery Administrator. When asked about her favorite part of serving as the Nursery Administrator at St. John’s she states, “I love it when one of our youngest church members comes running up to me and wants to tell me what they learned about Jesus in the nursery that morning! It puts a big smile on my face every time!”

Director of Preschool
Katie grew up in Rock Hill and still has much of her family in town. She married Chris Goodwin and they have three children: Corbin, Chloe and Atticus. Katie received a B.A. in Elementary Education from Clemson University in 1993. She taught second grade at St. Anne School for seven years and earned her M.A. in Counseling and Development from Winthrop University during that time. She enjoyed eight years as a stay home mother and was ready to start back part time at St. John’s Preschool as a K4 teacher for the 2008-2009 school year. Being a part of such a caring and positive environment encouraged her to take the position as the director for the preschool. Katie is dedicated to maintaining and growing the excellence St. John’s Preschool has to offer.
Director of After-School
Linda grew up in Hartsville, South Carolina. After a twenty year career in business and government service, she elected to pursue her current position as Director of the after-school program. She is certified in CPR and First Aid. Linda has two daughters, Mary Beth and Lindsey. Linda enjoys running, reading, and dining with good friends.
