From a child's first day in our church, the nursery team's goal is for each child to feel that the house of God is a warm, friendly, and safe place to be. Please check out this blog post to see just how passionate our nursery volunteers are and to understand how important the ministry of the nursery is to the life of St. John's.
Child care is provided for all three worship services and during Sunday school. Children who are two years of age up through kindergarten receive a Bible lesson and age appropriate activities for them to enjoy during Sunday school. Parent cell phone numbers are given to the nursery so that parents may be reached in the event that communication is needed. Matching security tags are given to the parent and attached to the child. The tags also note the child's feeding, diapering, and medical instructions for the staff. The nursery is staffed with unpaid staff as well as paid staff who are trained in Pediatric CPR and First Aid. All classrooms are equipped with age appropriate toys that are sanitized on a regular basis to ensure the health and safety of our children. For additional information about the nursery, including what to bring with you, please visit our Nursery FAQ's.
A Nursing Mother's Lounge is available for our mothers. The lounge is equipped with a changing table, rocking chairs, and a television set that broadcasts both the 9:00 First Light and the 11:00 am services.
The Nursery Committee runs a Stork Ministry, which lets the community and neighbors know of new arrivals at St. John's. Wooden storks are delivered to the homes of our new babies to announce their arrival and welcome them into our congregation.
Additionally, new babies are welcomed with new baby baskets filled with infant necessities, nursery, preschool, and child development information, a diaper bag tag, and a variety of other family treats.
Please visit the nusery reception desk off of the gathering area on the first floor for assistance with check in, for classroom locations and to locate the Nursing Mother's Lounge. Stephanie (our Nursery Administrator) will be there to assist you!
All nursery staff (paid and unpaid) undergo a background check, acknowledge our Safe Sanctuary Policy and are trained in nursery procedures prior to serving in the nursery. If you would like to serve in the nursery and have not been screened or trained, please contact Stephanie Ansley.
If you have been previously trained and screened, please sign up to serve by visiting www.SignUpGenius.com/go/9040F48ACA8292-example1
