United Methodist Women

The first Methodist church in Rock Hill was founded largely on the efforts of two women who lived in the area during the 1850’s. Today several new generations of women are keeping the Methodist traditions thriving in our community.

Purpose

The UMW is an organization, rooted in mission, with membership open to any woman who shares its PURPOSE...*

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Love In Action Circle (ages 60 and older) meets the second Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Wonderful Women's classroom. Hosted by a member each month, she can provide a snack but is not obligated. Donations for our Sunshine Fund are collected which benefit Quest and Winthrop Wesley. We invite speakers some months or sometimes we just fellowship after our business meeting.

Susanna Wesley Circle (ages 50 and older) meets the third Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Nova's Bakery. This group of women prefers hands-on opportunities like volunteering at Bethel UMC Men's Warming Center, providing lunches after Taize services, and cooking for Winthrop Wesley students. We hope to visit more of the missions that are supported by the UMW this year. We also collect for our Sunshine Fund, which is used to help with needs at local missions.
